Buddy read with Nana the Novelty!
“You’re always you, and that don’t change, and you’re always changing, and there’s nothing you can do about it.”
So, it took me a really long time to read this, for no reason other than that I’ve been in a slump these past few months. But I finally did it, and got through the comic at the same time. Thank goodness for audiobooks! 🙏🙌
I liked this story. It was clever and engaging, and Bod was a consistent and relatable protagonist. There were certain things that I wish had gotten more time to explore, but on the whole, I appreciated where the story went. Silas was undoubtedly my favorite character, but he’s a vampire, so who’s really surprised?

As for the comic, it was largely the same story, though somewhat abridged, which meant some degree of characterization and the exact events were lost in translation. But I enjoyed the art (and was only somewhat flummoxed by the changing artists and styles). The core of the story was there.
Overall, this was a great spooky book and I only wish I’d finished it before Halloween instead of after.
